Grease Trap Waste Recycling Facility Permit Renewal Part 360/362-3 Long Island City

Walden’s engineers have worked with this Grease Trap Waste Recycling Facility (GTWRF) in Long Island City, NY since they opened and needed a complete permit application in 1992.  Through the years, we have helped this Facility comply with its permit and avoid violations.  The GTWRF is sized to accommodate the permitted throughput capacity of 30,000 gallons per day (GPD) of animal fats and vegetable oils and to have a storage capacity not exceeding 73,000 gallons. The Facility has developed a way of collecting and cleaning the grease/sludge from the grease traps of food processing facilities and restaurants for recovery. The Facility separates and disposes of pre-treated wastewater and solids, and recovers and recycles the non-petroleum oil and grease for industrial use.

Recently, the facility’s solid waste permit needed to be renewed in accordance with the new 6NYCRR Part 360 & 362-362 regulations that came into effect on November 4, 2017 in order to stay in compliance. Walden guided the facility in implementing operational changes that had to be made to comply with the new regulations while preparing the permit renewal application.

Walden successfully applied for the permit renewal and continues to advise the client to help all operations within the facility stay in compliance with the permit conditions. We also assist this client with its other permits, including a DSNY permit that needs to be renewed annually and requires preparation of annual waste reports. Walden keeps up to date on any new or modified regulations that would affect this facility to help them maintain compliance and avoid any violations.
