Environmental Health and Safety Services for Skanska AirTrain Construction at JFK Airport, New York

Walden was retained to develop a 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER Health and Safety Plan for site construction activities at JFK Airport for the construction of the Skanska AirTrain.  In addition, Walden prepared an Excess Material Disposal Plan (EMDP) to manage excavation spoils associated with the AirTrain construction project; the spoils were contaminated with jet fuel.  The EMDP included pre-construction soil screening, endpoint sampling and stockpile sampling for disposal characterization purposes.  The Walden site Health and Safety Plan (HASP) included trenching and excavation protection, confined space and hot work permitting following OSHA compliance requirements for all hazard area work.  The plans were presented to the Port Authority of NY/NJ representatives who  found the plans to be complete and  authorized them for use on the project.  Walden provided oversight and air monitoring for confined space entry work and took regular stockpile samples of spoils to arrange for disposal approval, tracked off-site shipments and prepared material balances for cost claim verification. Walden demonstrated its professionalism and health and safety experience to the client by delivering and implementing project specific plans to ensure safety on the job.
