ERIN KELLY JOINS WALDEN!

Walden Environmental is delighted to announce the hiring of Erin Kelly. Kelly holds hold the position of Project Scientist and works out of Walden’s headquarters office in Oyster Bay, on Long Island. She recently received her Bachelor of Science in Biology and Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences at Binghamton University, State University of New York.

Kelly has held a few positions during her time as a student, working as an Undergraduate Researcher for the Freshman Research Immersion Program where she recorded Fitness-related traits of experimental plants. She has also worked as a Research Assistant Intern at Texas A&M University, researching biological and thermodynamical controls placed upon fish steroidogenesis to analyze how they interact with each other, and as a substitute teachers’ assistant.

Kelly’s background, experience, and interests are highly aligned with Walden’s mission and work portfolio. Her experience working in labs, performing data collection and analysis, and soil moisture collection will be especially useful for Walden’s work. Kelly’s skills in recording data and presenting research results to groups in-person and virtually display her ability to pivot quickly and respond to changing dynamics in her work environment. We are pleased to welcome her to the Walden team.

KRISTOFFER LUBAS JOINS WALDEN!

Walden Environmental is excited to welcome Kristoffer Lubas to the team. Lubas is our newest EHS Specialist and will join the EHS Division in Connecticut. Lubas is well-traveled and has experience working in multiple states in various EHS-related jobs including Massachusetts and New Jersey.

Most recently, Lubas worked as an Adjunct Fire Instructor for the Connecticut Fire Academy and as an Environmental Specialist for another firm in CT. As an Environmental Specialist, he ensured operational compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, performed facility inspections, inspected hazardous waste tanks and reported findings to the regulatory agency, and hosted audits. He also oversaw fire extinguisher and suppression system inspections, facility first-aid supplies, and procured safety signage.

Lubas is well versed in updating plans and permits and coordinating with a variety of regulatory agencies like EPA, DOT, OSHA, and DEEP, and conducting environmental training. He is a certified Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM) and Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT).

Lubas also has vast experience in Hazmat emergency response, Hazmat training, and hazardous waste inspections, which contributed to his success as an Adjunct Fire Instructor for the Connecticut Fire Academy where he provided training based on current NFPA and OSHA standards for career and volunteer fire departments across the state of Connecticut.
