Get Ready for OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week

by | Jul 17, 2025

Mark your calendars! OSHA is hosting its annual Safe + Sound Week from August 11–17. This year’s theme is emergency preparedness and response, and it’s the perfect opportunity to engage your team, refresh your safety efforts, and take a closer look at how prepared you really are.

So, what is Safe + Sound Week exactly?

It’s a nationwide event that highlights the importance of proactive safety and health programs. Every year, organizations of all sizes participate by hosting trainings, leading safety talks, or reviewing and improving their internal programs. It’s flexible, easy to join, and valuable for everyone.

With this year’s theme being emergency preparedness and response, OSHA is encouraging employers to revisit evacuation procedures, practice crisis communication, and ensure that emergency plans aren’t just written down, but actually understood by the people they’re meant to protect.

Safety is more than just checking a box. It’s about building a confident and capable team. No matter where your organization stands today, Safe + Sound Week provides the tools and support to turn written procedures into real-world readiness. It’s a chance to take your safety culture to the next level.

Getting involved

Safe + Sound Week isn’t just a feel-good campaign; it’s a movement with a lasting impact. In 2021, over 5,300 businesses participated in Safe + Sound Week. Of those participants, 100% said it was a positive experience and 95% reported a meaningful improvement in their safety culture.

Participation is free and easy. You can register on OSHA’s website and check out their free resources, from posters and handouts to training materials and activity guides. Whether you decide to have a hands-on fire extinguisher training, run a fire drill, update your emergency action plan, or host a lunch-and-learn on workplace hazards, your efforts show your team that safety is a shared priority.
