This year’s scholarship winner is Zach Arenella. Zach was the Captain of Oyster Bay High School’s fall cross country team, winter track team, and spring track team. He also participated in an organization called, “Friday Friends,” where students would hang out with special needs kids on Friday nights.

His strongest subject in high school consisted of his engineering courses. He took his first two courses his junior year, which were half-year courses. His final course was called “Stony Brook Engineering,” where he was also given college credit.

Zach currently works at Heritage Farm and Garden as a “loader,” helping residents load items in their car. Through his experience, he learned how to communicate with people in a professional way.

“The Walden scholarship process gave me an insight on how to solve problems as a real engineer,” said Zach. “This will definitely help me further my studies.”

Zach will be attending Hofstra University in the fall studying mechanical engineering and industrial design.

“I want to use my creations to better the lives of people around the world.” – Zach Arenella.

Walden wishes Zach the best of luck in his future endeavors and congratulations on your High School graduation!
