Wednesday, February 9th, Joseph Heaney III P.E. and Massimiliano Lelli, CSP presented a webinar, “Top 10 OSHA Violations for Dealers in 2021…and How to Avoid Them in 2022,” for members of the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association (GNYADA).

The presentation is one in a series of webinars that is moderated by Susan Bieber, VP of Dealer Services at GNYADA. Bieber regularly holds webinars that are designed to offer members useful information they need to stay atop of industry regulations and trends and offer them access to resources that can help them run efficient operations that are in full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Walden has, on other occasions, presented similar information to GNYADA members. In all of these presentations, Walden begins by showing attendees the top 10 OSHA violations for car dealerships from the previous year. Walden discusses the violations, what they mean, and how dealerships are getting them. Presenters Heaney and Lelli then spend some time discussing how dealers can avoid getting those and other violations.

Other topics that were covered that year included: how dealerships can properly manage waste, along with a review of what constitutes hazardous waste and how to differentiate that from non-hazardous waste. In a sign of the times, Walden also discussed what impact COVID-19 had on dealerships and a special highlight session on NYC rules and regulations.

NYC has several rules that dealerships must follow, in addition to other applicable regulations. It is incumbent upon owner/operators to ensure their (annual) Right-to-Know filings are done by the due date (March 1st) and that their (annual) NYC Energy Benchmarking is done by May 1st. Additionally, Walden presenters will introduce NYC Local Law 97 (LL97) from 2019, which will set carbon emissions caps for use in large buildings in 2024. The Covered Buildings List (CBL) may help dealerships determine if LL97 applies to their operation.

Walden is proud of our continued partnership with GNYADA. For more information about Right-to-Know filings or any other EHS services we provide, visit our website. To register for this webinar, click the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_vIAyvMlTRwWw9npc4kpuGw.
