Walden Becomes NYSERDA’s Newest FlexTech Consultant

Walden is proud to announce that we have recently become a New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) FlexTech Consultant!

FlexTech Consultants are selected based on their demonstrated expertise in clean energy. Each consultant identifies areas in which they specialize, so that they can work with people whose needs most closely align with their capabilities. Walden’s areas of expertise as a FlexTech Consultant begin with:

• General feasibility studies for commercial, industrial, municipal, academic, and institutional clients
• Combined heat and power, distributed generation, energy storage, and renewable generation
• Drinking water and wastewater-related projects

Walden’s engineers and scientists are adept at solving many different kinds of environmental challenges, so we are not limited to offering technical assistance in just these areas! You can read about all of the services that Walden offers here.

Walden is excited to work with NYSERDA as a FlexTech Consultant. NYSERDA is a state agency that is committed to helping New Yorkers adopt cleaner energy solutions. This mission is especially important in light of the passage of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) in New York. To achieve the ambitious emissions reductions and clean energy goals set forth in the CLCPA, it is vital that New Yorkers have appropriate resources to help them make sense of the requirements and provide guidance for how they can comply as stricter regulations take effect.

NYSERDA offers a wide variety of programs to assist New York in moving toward more energy efficient practices, including:

• Flexible Technical Assistance (FlexTech): provides funding for awardees to perform an energy study. The purpose of an energy study is to find ways to improve the energy efficiency of your building.
• On-site Energy Manager Program: provides funding for on-site energy managers to work at facilities. On-site energy managers will implement more energy efficient practices and improve operations.
• P-12 Schools – Clean Green Schools Initiative: provides funding for public schools to upgrade their infrastructure so that they can operate more sustainably.

Applicants have the option to connect with a prequalified FlexTech Consultant that can do the work covered under the programs listed above. Oftentimes, FlexTech Consultants will offer assistance throughout the entirety of the program, starting with the application process. As a new FlexTech Consultant, Walden looks forward to working with clients to help identify appropriate funding sources to pursue.
