Nikita Oarcea has (re)joined the Walden team as a Project Engineer in our Hudson Valley office location. Oarcea is a recent graduate of the University at Buffalo, where he studied civil engineering with a focus on water resources and environmental topics. His senior design project focused on the future impacts of climate change on Combined Sewer Overflows, and the use of various green infrastructure techniques to reduce these overflows in Buffalo.

Oarcea is not a new face to Walden. He spent the summer of 2021 as an engineering intern in the same office. That internship was sponsored by New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), with the agreement that Oarcea would be performing meaningful work in the clean energy sector. While working with the engineers at Walden, Oarcea had the opportunity to conduct and author studies that analyzed the remaining capacity of a wastewater treatment plant and investigated implementing renewable energy technology at a water treatment plant.

Oarcea has spent time serving his community as a volunteer firefighter since 2016. He is certified in a number of safety and operating courses through the fire department, and just completed his OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training and 10-hour construction safety training during his first month at Walden. He is currently working on a project that involves helping a school improve energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint.

Walden is excited to add Oarcea permanently to our growing team in the Hudson Valley! If you are interested in employment at Walden, check out our open positions today or call 516-559-6976.
