The Walden family is excited to announce the hiring of Amanda Chatfield, our new Project Scientist! Amanda will be joining our team in the Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) consulting division. Her professional background includes working as an industrial health contractor as well as serving in the military for seven years. It was during her time in the military that Amanda completed her Bachelor’s degree in biology at Central Connecticut State University.

Previously, as an EH&S Safety Specialist, Amanda was responsible for inspecting the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas. Her work ensured compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Amanda’s other duties included job safety training, in addition to evaluation of quantitative and qualitative work risks and hazards.

Amanda served as a Combat Medic for the U.S. Army National Guard. In this position, she was in charge of transporting patients in ambulances, treating patients, and providing support to other units with adult soldiers during training. Amanda obtained many qualifications during her tenure in the military. These included weapons qualifications, phlebotomy, wound care/treatment, recognizing and diagnosing illnesses, and minor surgery. She received a call to duty at Stamford Hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic, where in which she earned the Armed Forces Service Medal, among other awards.

Notably, Amanda also received the following military commendations: Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Emergency Service Ribbon, and Coin of Excellence.

Amanda’s experience will be a fantastic addition to the EH&S division of Walden. Her background is particularly important to Walden’s clients in the manufacturing and industrial areas. We are excited to see Amanda thrive in this position!
