Joe Heaney is a mechanical engineer with experience designing and building HVAC systems for high-rise residential buildings, hospitality centers, healthcare facilities, and commercial office spaces. Previously, as President and Founder of Lotus Biosecurity, Heaney gained experience leading a multi-disciplinary team of energy, mechanical, engineering, and epidemiological experts to consult on and implement measures to build healthy and energy-efficient spaces for businesses recovering from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Throughout his career, Heaney has developed a breadth of knowledge around regulatory compliance strategies and energy-efficient construction solutions in the tri-state area. His expertise in addressing indoor air quality concerns has been sought out by small businesses in a variety of industries as well as media, such as the Wall Street Journal, Business Insider, USA Today, Healthline, and others as a thought leader on risk mitigation during COVID-19.

Heaney earned his MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. At Walden, he leads our green energy and sustainability services, focusing on the New York City, Long Island, and Hudson Valley markets.
