Walden Enhances and Expands Services to Clients with Engineering Firm Purchase
Walden Environmental Engineering, a Civil/Environmental Engineering Consulting Firm, is pleased to announce the acquisition of The Secant Group, LLC (TSG). TSG, a consulting engineering firm with offices in Fort Wayne, IN, and New Paltz, NY, will expand Walden’s staff, resources and service now that the sale has been completed.
TSG’s water, wastewater, stormwater/drainage and municipal engineering capabilities will complement Walden’s expertise in the Hudson Valley region as well as expand Walden’s broad range of services to markets in the Northeast and Midwest. TSG is a unique leader in the growth of utility agencies through planning, expansion, acquisition, rate and revenue programs and grant awards. TSG has managed the negotiation and integration of more than $100 million in utility mergers, regionalization efforts, long-term partnerships and public-private partnerships, resulting in more affordable capital programs, more efficient utility operations and lower utility rates for customers. Walden is now poised to offer these services to new and existing clients.
“We are proud to add TSG’s creativity and leadership to our ranks and we are excited about our investment in the future of the Hudson Valley and our continued direct involvement in the Northeast,” said Walden’s Principal, Joseph Heaney, III, P.E. “Walden will be even better positioned to assist our municipal and private sector clients with complex, long-term water supply and distribution, sewage collection and treatment, nonpoint source abatement, green infrastructure and resource recovery projects, and other municipal program implementation and funding.”
TSG, founded more than fifteen years ago in Indiana, has often focused on the financial and business side of the utility industry, developing innovative solutions to challenging problems and providing timely engineering support to better achieve the client’s goals. Projects have included direct engineering, start-up services for new utility organizations, expert testimony for rate and litigation support, and straightforward and effective communication, outreach and educational efforts to build consensus for a project or program to succeed. These TSG capabilities will be expanded under Walden’s ownership.
“TSG is excited to join Walden,” said Ted Nitza, TSG’s President and a licensed Professional Engineer in New York and Indiana. “The management, staff and resources that Walden brings to any table are an excellent means for our staff to grow professionally and further develop the unique expertise that TSG clients have appreciated for years.”
Heaney added, “This acquisition continues Walden’s effort to provide expanded professional services and solutions for our clients. Walden will continue to recruit and invest in the best talent in our industry. We are passionate about innovating for our clients as our dedicated and growing staff of professionals target a practical, collaborative approach to problem-solving. Walden continues to grow by acquisition and through referrals from clients and the many contacts we have made in over 23 years of business.”
