Walden Environmental Engineering PLLC would like to welcome its newest addition, Erica Johnston. Erica is joining us as a Environmental Scientist.
Erica graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies and Ecosystems from Binghamton University in 2012. Upon graduating, she entered into the field of environmental consulting and comes to Walden with four and a half years of experience in the field. She has completed numerous environmental reports and fieldwork activities. Specifically, she has completed numerous Phase I Environmental Site Assessments, Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Remedial Investigation Work Plans, Remedial Investigation Reports, Remedial Action Work Plans, Site Management Plan, and Remedial Action Reports. She has worked on many New York City Office of Environmental Remediation “E” designation sites, obtaining many Notices to Proceed and Notices of Satisfaction for developers and land owners. She has also assisted in completing Final Engineering Reports for New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Brownfield Cleanup Program Sites.
Erica’s fieldwork experience includes supervision of drilling activities, construction supervision, vapor barrier and sub slab depressurization system inspections, monitoring well installation and sampling, product recovery, air monitoring, lead based paint inspections with x-ray fluorescence surveys as an EPA lead based paint inspector, soil and waste characterization, soil and waste disposal coordination, and supervision of remediation at Brownfield Cleanup Program sites. She has assisted in executing several projects that have been recipients of the New York City Office of Environmental Remediation Big Apple Brownfield Awards for sustainable developments and community facility developments. Erica also comes to Walden with experience in business operations, project management, sales, and networking. In the course of her career, she has gained experience in working closely alongside contractors, field technicians, drillers, construction managers, developers, property buyers, property sellers, and lenders.
While outside of work, Erica enjoys spending her free time outdoors hiking, kayaking, and bird watching. Additionally, she is an active member of the Kings Park Fire Department and serves as an EMT and volunteer fire fighter for her community. Walden is very excited to have Erica join our team!
