Walden is pleased to welcome our newest employees to the team! David Fulcher, Daniel Galdamez, and Eldgy Florvil joined us as Project Engineers based at our headquarters in Oyster Bay. Marti Colasurdo and Dylan Howie both join our Fishkill office also as Project Engineers. We are excited to see all that they contribute to our team and clients. Read on to learn a little bit more about each new hire.
David Fulcher
David brings more than 15 years of experience in water resources, hydrology, and environmental engineering across public agencies and private industry. He spent over a decade with the U.S. Geological Survey, first as a Hydrologist in Tampa, FL, where he led the conversion of stream gage and monitoring networks to updated elevation datums, conducted aquifer tests and streamflow measurements, and supported emergency data collection after hurricanes, and later as a Hydrologic Technician in Coram, NY, leading a team on groundwater survey operations for the New York Water Science Center’s Nassau County monitoring expansion. He also served as a Water Systems Analyst with the NYC Department of Health & Mental Hygiene, conducting regulatory inspections and sampling for drinking water systems, beaches, and cooling towers, and most recently as a Senior Operations Engineer with LiquiTech, providing regional technical leadership on water treatment systems and pathogen control across the Northeast.
David holds a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of South Florida, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Systems Science at Binghamton University while preparing for his FE and CAPM exams. He is also a U.S. Army veteran.
Daniel Galdamez
Daniel joins Walden after completing his MS in Environmental and Water Resources Engineering at the University at Buffalo (SUNY). As a Graduate Research Assistant in the Environmental Biomolecular Laboratory, he’s developed protocols for extracellular vesicle isolation, studied wastewater-based SARS-CoV-2 detection methods, and presented at the National Gordon Research Conference on Water Disinfection.
His project experience includes designing a residential rainwater harvesting system, building a solar-powered drip irrigation system for a campus pollinator garden with UB Sustainability, and leading a robotics team for UB’s E-week BattleBots competition. He also brings hands-on construction and electrical experience from his family’s home improvement business.
A committed leader, Daniel served as Vice President/Graduate Advisor of the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (securing $15,000+ in conference funding), Pledge Class President of Theta Tau, and a mentor in UB’s First-Generation Peer Mentorship Program. His honors include the Student Leaders Scholarship, the Richard E. Garman Fund, and the NYS STEM Scholarship. He’s skilled in Revit, AutoCAD, Python, ArcGIS, and HEC-RAS.
Marti Colasurdo
Marti joins Walden after having completed her Master of Science in Environmental Engineering at Lehigh University.
Most recently, Marti worked as a Water/Wastewater Engineering Intern at Verdantas in Bethlehem, PA, where she tested newly installed pumps, evaluated site conditions, reviewed Requests for Proposals, and supported Civil 3D design work and client presentations. She also brings environmental site assessment experience from an internship with Colliers Engineering & Design and international project experience through the Iacocca International Internship Program in Montenegro, where she developed climate diplomacy materials for a panel featuring the former president of Montenegro.
As Research Project Lead in Dr. Gabrielle String’s laboratory at Lehigh, Marti led filter-testing research involving E. coli spiking and custom-built filtration apparatus, work that earned the People’s Choice Award at the David & Lorraine Freed Undergraduate Research Symposium.
Beyond the classroom, Marti has demonstrated strong leadership as Captain of Lehigh’s Women’s Club Lacrosse Team, Assistant Business Manager/PR Chair for the acapella group Lehigh Off the Record, and Vice President of Operations for Kappa Alpha Theta’s Epsilon Rho chapter.
Dylan Howie
Dylan brings 12+ years of experience in biologics testing, risk assessment, and regulatory reporting across pharmaceuticals and academia. He earned his M.Eng. in Chemical Engineering from Cornell University, where he received the 2016 Outstanding M.Eng Research Project Award, and his B.S. in Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
Most recently, Dylan spent nearly eight years as a Scientist at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in Tarrytown, NY, where he prepared and edited technical data reports for regulatory agencies and served over six years as his department’s EHS liaison, ensuring compliance with OSHA and GxP standards. He led a team focused on quantifying and predicting risk for co-formulated drug products, developed novel experimental methods to characterize evolving biologic modalities, automated data analysis and reporting across 12 laboratory assays, and designed a new hazardous liquid waste management procedure for his department.
Before Regeneron, Dylan was a Research Technician at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where he served as his team’s lead troubleshooter, designed and optimized protein expression and purification protocols in human HEK cells, and streamlined chromatography methods to reduce sample-loading time.
Eldgy Florvil
Eldgy earned his B.S. in Environmental & Sustainable Engineering from the University at Albany, SUNY, where his coursework spanned water and wastewater treatment, air quality modeling, water resources engineering, and solid waste engineering.
Most recently, Eldgy served as an Environmental Engineering Intern with the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation’s Division of Environmental Remediation, where he helped develop and test a GSR tracking dashboard, reviewed State Superfund work plans for best management practices, drafted climate resiliency plans, and tracked greenhouse gas metrics across Superfund-funded projects.
For his senior capstone, Eldgy served as Design & Implementation Lead on a climate-resilient automated pump-and-treat remediation system for the Superfund Servall Laundry Site, a project completed for NYSDEC. He engineered a method to separate the water table from contaminated soil, modeled groundwater flow to optimize extraction and treatment, and evaluated system performance under flooding and fluctuating water table scenarios.
He’s proficient in EPA SWMM, AutoCAD, Bentley MicroStation, and GIS, and brings strong collaboration and problem-solving skills to every project.
