Each year, Walden hires college students studying engineering for internship roles during their summer breaks. Our two summer interns for 2026 are Blake Weingarten and Abbie Kreiner. Blake (pictured left) is an environmental engineering major and is currently working in our Oyster Bay headquarters. Abbie (pictured right) has been an intern at Walden for a couple of years now (she first joined us as a high school senior!); she is studying civil and environmental engineering and is based in Walden’s Fishkill office. Blake Weingarten
Blake is a rising senior at the University of Vermont and will be earning a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering in the Spring of 2027. He is from Syosset, NY and graduated from Syosset High School in 2023. He is excited to apply his studies and research work to a variety of environmental projects. He looks forward to obtaining his Engineering in Training certification in the Fall of 2026 and eventually pursuing Professional Engineering licensure.
In his time working at Walden, Blake has enjoyed the support of the team and the impactful work he has been exposed to, such as A/B Operator tank inspections, wastewater sampling, and developing site sampling plans in response to issuances of non-compliance. Outside of work, Blake has a passion for playing the trumpet and performing with the various musical groups he is a part of.
Abbie Kreiner
Abbie is from the Bronx, NY, and graduated from Mahopac High School in 2024. She is a rising junior attending SUNY University at Buffalo and is majoring in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Environmental Engineering. Abbie aspires to continue her work in environmental engineering after graduating from Buffalo, and has enjoyed completing various types of work for Walden.
Such work has included GIS mapping for MS4 compliance, performing indoor air quality sampling, and developing technical reports for numerous projects. In addition to her studies, Abbie enjoys working as a tour guide for Buffalo’s School of Engineering, and will work as a Student Supervisor in the Machine Shop at Buffalo’s Engineering School this upcoming semester.
