engineering, volunteer, community service, give back, community involvementEvery year, Walden Environmental Engineering (Walden) hosts its Volunteer Day as an opportunity for the officers and staff to give back to the communities in which we live and work. This year, Walden Volunteer Day was held on Friday, July 11.

Walden staff worked the entire day at Part of the Solution (POTS) in their Webster Avenue facility. POTS is an organization that provides critical services to the local at-need community through its food pantry and community dining room, along with other services.

Walden staff began the day at 8:00 am and worked with POTS staff members as well as other volunteers. Our group was assigned to perform work in the food pantry and dining area.

In the food pantry, each Walden staff member was partnered with a resident and helped them fill their baskets with nutritious food from each of the areas, such as vegetables and fruit. When that part of the day was complete, it was time to restock the area. Walden’s team worked with POTS staff to move boxes of food from the warehouse into the food pantry area to get it restocked for the next day’s round of clients.

When lunch was complete, the room was cleaned again in preparation for the next day’s lunch group. POTS hosts lunch six days a week in the community dining room. Local residents are welcome to attend and are treated to a healthy lunch, compliments of POTS.

Walden’s Commitment to Communities

As with previous years, when planning for Volunteer Day, the officers and staff of Walden identify an organization that contributes to the local community in any number of ways, from food pantries and local gardens to youth camps and resident schools. We work with organizations that perform a valuable service in some way.

Walden’s Volunteer Day was established over 20 years ago to celebrate the company’s founding and give back to the communities that have supported our company through the years. By holding Volunteer Day each year, Walden accomplishes another important goal of team building.

We are proud to work with an organization like POTS. If you’re interested in working with a company that gives back to the community, contact Walden today at 516-559-6976 or click here to learn more. Check out some more photos from Volunteer Day in the gallery below!
