Walden is delighted to announce that Project Engineer Cari Covell has passed the PE exam and is now a New York State-licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.)!
Ms. Covell earned a Bachelor of Civil Engineering with a minor in Environmental Engineering from the University of Delaware. She also received her Master of Science in Sustainable Energy Engineering and has been working toward her PhD in Geothermal Energy Engineering, both from Iceland’s Reykjavik University.
At Walden, Ms. Covell has demonstrated her skills in a variety of areas, working on projects in fields including air quality, solid waste, site investigation and remediation, permitting and compliance, and construction management. She uses her strong engineering experience to support clients in navigating environmental and regulatory challenges, ensuring compliance with a complex array of federal, state, and local requirements.
What Is a P.E. License?
Earning a P.E. license is a very intensive process. The steps to attain licensure are:
- Receiving a four-year engineering degree from an accredited institution
- Passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
- Working closely with licensed Professional Engineers for a minimum of four years
- Passing the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam
Ms. Covell has worked incredibly hard over the past several years to complete each of these tasks, which are each a huge accomplishment in themselves. P.E.s are held to a high standard of ethics and demonstrate their commitment to doing quality engineering work by completing continuing education requirements throughout their careers. At Walden, we encourage employees to continue learning and to become certified or licensed as applicable for their roles. In this way, employees are supported in their growth and we are able to provide the best services possible to our clients. Ms. Covell exemplifies this Walden core value of continuous learning and we are very proud to have her on the team!
