Walden Environmental Engineering President and Founder Joseph M. Heaney III, P.E. will be presenting at the Greater New York Automobile Dealers Association’s (GNYADA) annual OSHA Compliance Seminar on Tuesday, June 18 at 9:30 a.m. at the Center for Automotive Education and Training in Whitestone, NY.

This yearly informational seminar is offered to GNYADA members. Heaney has spoken at the event for the past 20 years. With a strong background in safety compliance and legislation, Walden is a natural fit to partner with GNYADA for this educational forum.

At the seminar, attendees are presented with numerous topics that include the top ten OSHA violations from the previous year, hazard communications (HAZCOM) protocols, and the ins and outs of addressing OSHA violations or visitations, including the new Walkaround Rule. Keeping up with current market demands, the presentation now includes an overview of safety for electric vehicle (EV) technicians.

In addition to classroom areas, GNYADA’s Center for Automotive Education and Training also contains a working service bay area. In one portion of the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a unique hands-on interactive experience in that area as they are challenged to identify the pre-staged OSHA violations present in the service bay and offer suggestions for eliminating them.

For dealerships in New York City in attendance, the seminar has a separate session that covers local laws that could impact their operations. Those include the NYC Right-to-Know law, which regulates how hazardous substances are stored, used, and handled; Local Law 84, which sets benchmarking reporting requirements for energy and water use; and Local Law 97, which regulates greenhouse gas emissions.

Walden is proud of our continued association with GNYADA. We work closely with our clients in the automobile industry to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge they need to operate safely and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
