Tomorrow (April 22) is Earth Day!
Like a lot of people, you might be thinking about what it means to recognize Earth Day and what you can do to help our environment. Sometimes, the challenges associated with being good stewards of the environment can seem insurmountable. But it does not have to be. There are many activities that you can do with your family to support Earth Day like organizing a cleanup of your local park or participating in cleanup activities on local waterways, donating food scraps to local composting programs, or visiting a national park, to name a few.
Indeed, big changes start with small steps. As individuals, we can all do our part by implementing easy practices in our daily lives such as turning off the water when you brush your teeth, turning off the dry cycle in your dishwasher and letting them air dry instead, using reusable shopping bags, using energy-efficient light bulbs, turning off the lights when you leave a room or connecting motion sensors, reducing the use of disposable plastic products, eating local food when possible, choosing paperless billing, planting a garden of edible products, recycling electronics like cell phones, or using programmable thermostats.
Every little bit that we do collectively and individually helps our planet. This Earth Day, think about implementing some of the actions detailed above.
