Up to $2,800,000 is available in the 2021 Municipal Zero-Emission Vehicle (ZEV) Program. These grants are being offered to help municipalities install public charging stations and purchase or lease electric vehicles for fleet use.
The ZEV Infrastructure Grants provide funding opportunities to install either electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) or hydrogen fuel cell filling stations for public use. There is $2,500,000 in funds available for these grants. The ZEV Rebates set aside $300,000 in rebates available for the municipal purchase or lease of eligible vehicles from New York dealerships. Both ZEV funding opportunities will increase the use and accessibility of ZEVs in New York. By reducing reliance on standard internal combustion vehicles, these grants will reduce the exhaust gas and pollutants that are typically emitted from gasoline or diesel-fueled vehicles.
Applications are being accepted by the DEC on a rolling basis from now until October 29, 2021.
