FRIENDLY REMINDER!

The New York City (NYC) Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) annual Community Right-To-Know filing season is once more upon us! The deadline for businesses to file is March 1st, 2020. Although it may seem like there is a lot of time, we highly encourage businesses to file as early as possible. Filing early will ensure that any missing components will be discovered and proper corrections will be made. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE LAST MINUTE! Failing to file the DEP’s Community Right-to-Know Tier II report by March 1st could result in very hefty fines.

WE ARE HERE TO HELP

Whether you have filed before or plan to file for the first time, we can address all your questions or concerns. If a business/facility is exempt form filing a right to know inventory report, it is still required to submit a written letter justifying why right to know filing does not apply to them. This justification letter has to be approved by the department in order for your businesses to be safe from future violations. Many different types of businesses require right to know filing due to their use of chemicals above regulated thresholds. Some of these businesses include:

  • Automotive shops.
  • Dry cleaners
  • Funeral Homes
  • Industrial and commercial businesses
  • Laboratories
  • Hospitals
  • Utilities
